My love of nature and the outdoors started when I was fairly young. I remember as a youngster rummaging through fallen leaves in the Autumn with my parents and discovering liverworts in the hills as a seven year old. This was followed by a degree in Zoology and then gaining a Ph.D. before becoming a Zoology lecturer spending 3 years in Malaysia.
But academia didn't last too long and so I learnt the dark arts of computer programming and entered the world of IT. It was only after I retired that my love of the natural world was rekindled and time became available to put together a site to house my photos.
My interest in photography has lasted since I was a teenager, my first attempts to create prints in my parents bathroom ended when I stained the bath a nasty dark brown with the chemicals needed to develop the films and papers.
Today, digital photography is more immediate but far less likely to leave an indelible mark on the fixture and fittings at home.
